Golf Live (mgl) - the state's leading golf radio program -- provides
special previews of the upcoming US Open Championship at Pinehurst
and the 2005 Buick Open during this Saturday's broadcast from Manistee
National Golf & Resort.
Pinehurst historian Tom Stewart will help set the scene for the
national championship, which will be contested on the famous Pinehurst
#2 course. The Donald Ross gem last played host to the US Open in
1999, when Payne Stewart captured the title in memorable fashion.
The 2005 Buick Open will feature one of the strongest fields on
the PGA Tour when the tournament returns to Warwick Hills in late
July. The top two players in the world -- Vijay Singh and Tiger
Woods -- declared their intention to compete in Grand Blanc, as
have numerous other top players like John Daly and Kenny Perry.
“For golf fans who enjoy seeing the world's best players compete,
the next few weeks are going to be tremendously exciting,”
says MGL Executive Producer Bill
Hobson. “Many Michigan golfers have gained firsthand
knowledge of what it's like to tackle green complexes divised by
Donald Ross because his work is found in many corners of our state.
The US Open promises to be compelling viewing. And our friends at
the Buick Open are pumped as well at the prospect of early commitments
from the gam's top players. Many of those we'll watch at Pinehurst
will also be visiting Warwick Hills later this summer."
MGL radio is carried on 11 stations,
covering every major metropolitan market in the state. The show
airs from 8-10 a.m. every Saturday for 26 weeks - April through
September - and is on location every week from fablulous destinations
across the state and around the nation. Click
