Michigan Golf Live (mgl) - the state's leading golf radio program -- celebrates the Big Stakes Match Play Championship of Ann Arbor's David Ping in a special interview on Saturday's program.

The show will originate from Buck's Run Golf Club in Mt. Pleasant from 8-10 a.m.

Ping and playing partner Garth Mulroy combined wo win the inaugural event in Mesquite, Nevada -- winning the final match on the 18th hole to capture the $3 million first-place prize. Big Stakes will be shown on The Golf Channel may 30-31, but the big winner will appear on MGL first.

"The whole concept is pretty amazing," says MGL Executive Producer Bill Hobson. “Each team had to pay a $100,000 entry fee and then fight like crazy just to win that money back. The pressure was immense and for a local golfer to win is quite special."

Tom GillisAlso scheduled to appear on this week's show is PGA Tour pro Tom Gillis of Lake Orion, who has won nearly $300,000 in 2005 after recovering from major injuries that sidelined him for most of 2004.

MGL radio is carried on 11 stations, covering every major metropolitan market in the state. The show airs from 8-10 a.m. every Saturday for 26 weeks - April through September - and is on location every week from fablulous destinations across the state and around the nation.
