 Bill
Hobson, Executive Producer/Host
My story is a bit complicated, as it involves
TV, radio, music, motivational speaking, consuming sizable quantities
of pizza, and a love of the only game that can drive you crazy while
simultaneously luring you back for more - golf.
The best way for you to get a feel for what goes
on in my demented mind is to visit the site I use to book corporate
and church speaking engagements. You'll find an entire array of
gory details, pictures, and other valuable insight into all that
is truly Hobson.
Since
creating Michigan Golf Live eight years ago, it has been amazing
to see how quickly the show has grown. Watching the popularity of
MGL skyrocket in such a short time has taught me a very powerful
lesson - golfers are sick, sick people. Look at us! We'll play on
a day when the weather shouts "no!" We'll play when most loving,
kind parents would be: attending the soccer game, bedside for the
spouse undergoing major surgery, or in the crowd for junior's valedictory
speech. But then again, what do we expect from a game that has grown,
educated, professional people chasing a little white ball (slowly
so as to avoid exhaustion) in hopes of putting it into a small hole...only
to take it out and repeat that behavior. I love this game!

 Todd
Arner, Guest Co-Host
Todd Arner joined the MGL radio team in 2003 after
making his debut on MGL TV's Savannah Special.
Arner contributes to the show on a frequent basis.
He and Hobson formed the award-winning Cardinal Air Force as the radio
broadcast team for Saginaw Valley State University football in the
1990s.
Arner brings a wealth of sports broadcasting experience
to the MGL microphones. Stints during his twenty-plus year career
include hosting the Buick Open Radio Network, two years of anchoring
at WWJ-Radio in Detroit, 9 years as sports anchor on WNEM-TV in Saginaw,
and host of the successful "Sports Cafe" talk show on Sportstalk
1440AM in Saginaw and 1330AM in Flint. He can also be seen each year
on Fox Sports Net Detroit hosting Michigan High School Athletic Association
volleyball finals broadcasts.
Arner and his wife, Tricia, live in Saginaw with their
two children: Mitchell and Lauren. |
 Jon
Bloom, Guest Co-Host
After several years as Bill Hobson’s sidekick on MGL,
Jon Bloom moved to Arizona in pursuit of sunshine and year-round golf.
Bloomer
is part of the “Backspin” broadcast team at WKFI 910 AM
in Scottsdale.
A
native of Northern California (Hillsborough), located about 20 miles
South of San Francisco, Bloomer attended Syracuse University and was
sports director for WAER radio which is known throughout the United
States as the best student-run sports department. He called the play
by play for SU football, basketball, and lacrosse for two years, as
well as calling the action for the Houston Astros single-A affiliate
in Auburn, New York. He
won the "Bob Costas Award" as the school's top sportscaster
during his senior year.
Bloomer
became an anchor/reporter/host at Sportsradio 1130, the Fan in Detroit.
In addition to hosting shows such as the College Football Post Game,
he has covered the Lions, Red Wings, Spartans and Wolverines on the
road and the Pistons and Tigers at home. He also served four years
as the voice of the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies and an additional
season calling Wayne State University Football.
Bloomer
and his wife, Jill, celebrated the birth of daughter Marlee in July
of 2006. |
 Gregg
Hall, Director of Production
Diversity is one
of the prominent features of the MGL crew and Gregg Hall provides
a unique perspective.
A native of Flint, he graduated from Bentley High
School and is Production Manager for WSMH Fox 66, where he has served
for 12 years.
Hall’s vast technical knowledge and award-winning
editing and photography skills make MGL shows creative and pleasing
to the ears and eyes.
Among his other acheivements are the design and building of live production
trucks. He admits he has an electronic gadget addiction and dreamed
of working in TV since the 6th grade.
Hall started playing golf at Brookwood Golf Club
and later played in the Flint Junior Golf League for 3 years.
An avid hunter and fisherman, Hall enjoys riding
his Harley, when he isn’t playing computer games with his kids
Myles, James and Jessica, and wife Kristine. |
 Tom
Waske, Director of Sales
The first step
in beating an addiction is admitting you have a problem, and Waske
is far from confirming any such thing.
He joined the MGL forces around the time of it’s
inception in 2000, first as webmaster, developing the web site, and
his role has grown each year. The Sandusky (Michigan) native now wears
many hats, including sales, producing, and travels with the MGL team
on virtually all excursions.
He has been the steadiest performer on the MGL team
at the Golf Association of Michigan 2-man net competition during the
last three years.
After receiving his bachelor’s degree from
Grand Valley State, Waske served nearly 19 years as Sports Information
Director at Saginaw Valley State, winning numerous awards for publication
design. He also served stints as President of the NAIA Sports Information
Directors and as Information Director for the Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference.
Upon leaving SVSU, Waske launched wazideas –
a web site design and graphic arts company.
He lives in Saginaw and has two children, Jeff and Rachelle, who have
provided him with seven grandchildren. |
